GLE petrol, diesel, AMG and hybrid powertrains
The GLE family includes engines such as M276/M278 and OM642 on earlier vehicles, and M256/OM656 plus electrified variants on later models. Those examples guide identification; the engine code and VIN remain authoritative.

Steel suspension, AIRMATIC and E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL
GLE equipment ranges from steel springs to AIRMATIC and, on selected W167 vehicles, 48-volt E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL working with air springs. The test plan changes substantially between these systems.
- For a low corner, compare static height and leak paths before replacing the compressor.
- For E-ACTIVE warnings, confirm 48-volt supply, hydraulic control and system compatibility.
- Inspect mechanical arms, bushes and tyres alongside active suspension data.
GLE cooling and AC in Dubai
A large SUV cooling stack can collect debris between heat exchangers even when the front face appears clean. The AC condenser, engine radiator, charge-air coolers and fans should be considered as a working airflow system.
- Measure AC pressures and vent temperature at idle and raised airflow where appropriate.
- Inspect coolant leakage, thermostat/pump evidence and fan command when temperature rises.
- Confirm rear-zone airflow and flap control on multi-zone vehicles.
GLE electrical, 48-volt and driver-assistance systems
W167 vehicles may combine 12-volt, 48-volt or high-voltage systems with networked suspension and driver assistance. Low supply voltage can cause secondary events, but it should be measured rather than assumed.
- Retain scan data across powertrain, transfer case, suspension and body modules.
- Test main battery and charging/DC-DC behaviour as applicable.
- Confirm radar or camera calibration after relevant windscreen, body or alignment work.
