    Porsche PASM Explained

    Porsche Active Suspension Management electronically adjusts damper behaviour. PASM does not automatically mean air suspension: many PASM vehicles use steel springs with electronically controlled dampers.

    What the system does

    • Varies damping to balance body control and ride comfort.
    • Responds to drive mode and vehicle sensor inputs.
    • May work alongside air suspension, PDCC or other chassis systems.

    Models and applications

    • Available or standard on selected 911 and 718 variants.
    • Used with selected Cayenne, Macan and Panamera suspension configurations.
    • Integrated into Taycan chassis configurations where fitted.

    Normal characteristics

    • Ride firmness changes with mode and road input.
    • A firmer response in a sport mode is expected.
    • Fitment and ride height vary by model and option.

    Warning signs

    • A PASM or chassis-system message.
    • Persistent harshness, poor control or a damper leak.
    • Uneven tyre wear, knocking or steering instability.

    Diagnostic considerations

    • Confirm PASM equipment from vehicle data.
    • Combine module data with damper, bush, joint, tyre and alignment checks.
    • Verify calibration requirements after replacement.

    When inspection is needed

    A warning or symptom does not identify the failed part. DIGI-TEC confirms compatible access and the appropriate initial test for the exact vehicle.
