    What a basic code reader may miss

    Generic OBD data covers emissions-related faults but may not expose all Mercedes module events, guided tests or manufacturer-specific values. A wider scan is useful, but it still needs electrical and physical testing.

    Should you continue driving?

    Stop and switch off if the light flashes continuously, the engine shakes badly, temperature or oil-pressure warnings appear, or power loss makes driving unsafe. With a steady light and normal operation, avoid heavy load and arrange diagnosis soon.

    Why a fault code does not prove a component failed

    A code such as “system too lean”, “misfire cylinder 3” or “boost pressure deviation” names the detected result or circuit. It does not prove an oxygen sensor, coil, injector or turbocharger has failed. Vacuum/boost leaks, wiring, fuel supply and mechanical condition can produce the same monitored result.

    Arrange prompt diagnosis for any flashing light, rough running, reduced power or recurring code. Even a steady light should be read before inspection renewal or a long trip, because a stored condition may affect emissions, fuel use or secondary components.
